(1918 - 2015)
It is with great sadness we announce that Reta Geldart of the Grass Home, Riverview, and formerly of Little River, reached the end of her life's journey on Friday, February 20, 2015, at the age of 96. Born in Colpitts Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Whitmore and Etta (Bannister) Hopper.
Reta is survived by her daughters, Pauline/Polly (Lee), Alma and Anne, Little River and her son, Roger (Dianne), Little River; her grandchildren, Tara, Tim, Shane and Lindsay; her great grandchildren, Brooke-Lynn, Colson, Charlee and Raine; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hopper and Neta Hopper and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Reta was predeceased by her husband, Holly, in 2001. Reta was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by sisters, Alberta and Esther and brothers, Ottie, Roy, Randall and Wendell. Reta will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all her family.
She enjoyed cross country skiing, farm life and her vegetable garden, which she planted and cared for until she was 90. Every summer, she was busy making pickles and canning or freezing vegetables from her garden.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Grass Home for the exceptional care and kindness given to our mother.
A private graveside service will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM. HOPPER, WENDELL RICHARD - 1924-2013 - It is with true sadness that our family announces the passing of a beloved husband and father, Wendell which occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Born in Colpitts Settlement he was a son of the late Whitmore and Etta (Bannister) Hopper. He retired from Swifts Canada Ltd. after 30 years there and then worked with his neighbour, the late Austin Geldart at Geldart's Auto Salvage. Wendell loved country life, driving the back roads of Albert County with his friend, Gordon Colpitts, working at his yearly firewood duties and getting out fishing and hunting. Above all else came family and he was so happy that they lived close by. He will be missed by a loving and truly devoted wife of 60 years, Neta (Wilson); his children, Glenn (Charlene) and Elaine Carll (Jack); precious grandchildren, Nicole (Mike), Jaime (Tim) and Scott; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Brooklyn and Eliana. Survived also by sisters, Esther Elliott (late Walter) and Rita Geldart (late Holly); sister-in-law, Peggy Hopper; and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a great-grandson, Joshua; brothers, Roy, Randall and Ottie; sister, Alberta Hopper; and two infants.
The funeral will be held from the Salisbury Funeral Home Chapel, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Tuesday, August 20 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dan Compton officiating. A private family interment service will follow at the Wilson Cemetery, Little River. If desired, memorials to the Wilson Cemetery or the Nixon Cemetery would be appreciated by the family. We, the family wish to express our sincere appreciation of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Moncton Hospital 4600 wing for their tender, loving and great care given to us all. Our dad was blessed during his life to have had many true friends that made his days much more enjoyable. Thank you to Joan and Gordon Colpitts, Darien Ingraham, Ralph Fowler, James and Donna Ritchie, Roger Geldart, Roger Tingley, Dwight Hopper, Ross MacCallum, Rodney Tingley and Gary, Amanda, Blake and Wyatt Tingley. Floyd Prosser
1920-2010Floyd Prosser, age 90 years of Lower Coverdale, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
Born in Elgin, NB, on May 26th, 1920; he was the son of the late Girvan and Frances (Bannister) Prosser. He spent his younger years living in Riverside Albert. Floyd was a veteran of W.W.II, having served over seas from 1940 - 1946 with the 1st Canadian Armored Tank Brigade, and was previously employed with Westinghouse Canada. He was also a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #32 in Hillsborough.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 61 years Kathleen "Kay" (Kitchen) Prosser of Lower Coverdale; daughter Joan Seeglitz (Doug) of Riverview; sons Eric (Diane) of Moncton, Alan (Judy) of Wellington, NS and Peter at home; grandchildren James, Derek, Valerie, Jeffrey, Allison; also by several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In keeping with Floyd's wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
The Hillsborough Legion, Branch #32 will be holding a service at the Riverview Funeral Home on Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at 1:30pm, immediately following this service a Celebration of Life will take place with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the spring.
In memory of Floyd, donations made to the CNIB, Hillsborough Legion (Branch #32), or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family.
