459. Garnet Tilman WEIR
WEIR, GARNET - Garnet Tillman Weir, Dartmouth, NS passed away at the Dartmouth General Hospital September 8, 2013 with family at his side. Born September 15, 1921 in Albert, Albert Co. NB, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. After graduation from Riverside Consolidated School, and service in the Canadian Air Force during World War II, he held many positions with British American Oil and Gulf Oil retiring in 1982 as an auditor. He then began his dream job of driving new cars throughout the Maritimes for O'Regans Toyota until 2001. It was his absolute joy to travel around every nook and cranny in the Maritimes searching out back roads and avoiding tolls at all costs. Garnet is survived by daughters Sandra (Ray) Adlington and Judy (Graham) Chisholm, and son Terry (Kim) Weir. He is also survived by grandchildren Raymond (April) Adlington, Wayne (Chrystal) Adlington, Kelly (Chris) Lo, Colin (Krystyna) Chisholm, Dustin (Chantel) Weir; great grandchildren Jessica and Victoria Adlington, Rebecca and Alexis Adlington, Dominic Lo, and Hayden Weir. He is also survived by his companion Joyce Berry, sister-in-law Vivian Weir, and many nieces and nephews. Garnet's happiest moments were when all of us were together sharing a meal and family hijinks. He took great delight in everyone's accomplishments both large and small. He was predeceased by his wife, Muriel (Steeves) Weir, his parents Benjamin and Frances (Bannister) Weir; brothers Joseph and Otto; sisters Elizabeth Beck, Bertha Buhmeister, Mildred Power, and Alexis Jean Ayer
SCOTT, MURIEL (BANNISTER) - Muriel (Bannister) Scott went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the age of 84. She is now looking on the face of Jesus. Born in Elgin, N.B. and raised in Petitcodiac, N.B. Beloved wife of the late
Norman Scott (1980). Loving mother to Linda (David) Hudson, Debra Campisi, Donna (Jim) Bannister, Larry Scott, Brenda (Kevin) Aalto, Todd (Amalia) Scott, Wayne Scott, and Craig Scott. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four nieces and nephews; her brother Carl (Wanda) Bannister; sister-in-law Frances Bannister and her Aunt Edith Martin. Predeceased by her parents Elvin (1980) and Greta Bannister (1981); grandson Christopher Baxter (1992); brother Clarence Bannister (2001); sister
Hazel Lane (2002), and grandson Joel Bannister (2007).
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James Street, Milton (905) 878-2669. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 4372 Appleby Line, Burlington. Private interment at the grave site will take place prior to the service. BANNISTER, MYRTLE - Myrtle Marylin Bannister passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 30, 2013. Born in Codys, September 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lulu Gamblin, and the wife of the late Rev. Elwood "Al" Bannister. She met Al while at college in Massachusetts. Returning to Canada after their studies, they raised five children: Marilyn (Emery) Rogers, Paul, Tim (Diane), Philip (Jackie), and Peggy (Peter) O'Blenis. Myrtle lived her life as a passionate servant of Jesus Christ. She was a contributing alumna of Mount Allison University and Gordon College. With a lifelong commitment to service and hospitality, she fed virtually everyone in the various communities where she lived, and everyone was welcome in her home. She was a Life Member of the Codys’ Women's Institute, and the Women's Missionary Society of her church. In addition to faithfully serving with her husband in several pastorates in NB, she and Elwood taught in Kenya with Canadian Baptist Ministries for four years, fulfilling a lifelong dream. She is survived by her children, nine much-loved grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, Lulu Guravich, and her brother-in-law Delbert (Alice) Bannister, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, parents, brothers: Bill and Harold, an infant son, John, and daughter-in-law, Jackie.
