143. Bruce DOUTHWRIGHT

April 29, 1955- The death of Bruce Douthwright, 77 year old resident of this community, occurred at his home last night. He was born in Pleasant Vale, Albert County, and was the son of the late Aaron and Ann Douthwright. Mr. Douthwright, a farmer by trade , leaves to mourn his wife, Augusta; five daughters, Mrs. Herbert Douthwright, Pine Glen, Albert County; Mrs. Paul Lisson. and Mrs. Harry Mathews, both of Summerside, PEI; Mrs. Leslie, Douthwright and Mrs. Nelson both of Petitcodiac; four sons Collie, Petitcodiac; Gorham, Moncton; Arthur, Forrest Hill and Alonzo, Church's Corner. Several grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. The body is resting in the slumber rooms of Geldart's Funeral home , Petitcodiac. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2pm from Geldart's Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Parkindale cemetery.


Augusta Jane DOUTHWRIGHT

The death of Mrs. Augusta Douthwright of Petitcodiac occurred at her home Friday. She was 80. Born in Pollett River, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Jerushia (Berry) Douthwright. She was a member of the Forest Glen Baptist Church.
Surviving are, five daughters, Mrs. Herbert Douthwright (Marion), of Moncton, Mrs. Paul Lisson (Bertha), of Moncton, Mrs. Leslie Douthwright (Gladys), of Petitcodiac, Mrs. Nelson Smith (Pauline), of Petitcodiac, Mrs. Annie Matthews, of Prince Edward Island; four sons, Callie, of Petitcodiac, Arthur, of Petitcodiac, Alonzo, of Elgin, Gorham, of Riverview; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Douthwright of Petitcodiac; two brothers, Percy, of Glenvale, Harry, of Oromocto; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The body is resting at Armstrong's funeral home in Petitcodiac with service to be held there on Sunday at 1:30 pm. Entombment will be in Maplewood cemetery vault for burial in the spring in Parkindale. Died: 4 February 1971


361. Arthur DOUTHWRIGHT

DOUTHWRIGHT, ARTHUR - Arthur “Art” Melburn Douthwright, 85, of Petitcodiac, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on September 13, 2011. Born in Petitcodiac, he was a son of the late Bruce and Augusta Douthwright. Art worked at Fawcett's Lumber, and was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 41, Petitcodiac. Art is survived by his wife, Marjorie (nee Grant); his sister, Ann Matthews of Summerside, PE; his brother, Gorham Douthwright of Moncton, NB; his step-grandchildren: Katherine Cannell and John Cyril Cannell; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his step-son, John Cannell. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, from 7 to 9pm; the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 41 will be holding a tribute service on Thursday evening at 6:45 pm, all in Armstrong's Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac. A Celebration of Art's Life will be held on Friday, September 16 at 11am at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.

Matthew - The death occurred, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Summerside, on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, of Anne Matthew, aged 80 years. Born in Parkindale, NB, the second youngest of ten children, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Augusta (Douthwright) Douthwright. Left to celebrate her life are her children Brenda (Earl) Rogers; Roy Matthew; Robert Matthew; Cindy Warren; Sharon Matthew (Harry Gallant); Wendy (David) Pickrell; daughter-in-law Marie Berry; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brother Gorham Douthwright; sisters-in-law Marguerite and Marj Douthwright; brother-in-law Nelson Smith; and by special friend George Curtis (Michelle Allain). Predeceased by her son Terry Matthew; brothers and sisters Marion, Callie, Alonzo, Bertha, Gladys, Arthur, Pauline and Albert; daughters-in-law Katti and Cathy. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Central Street Christian Church in the Fellowship Hall. 376. Austin L. DOUTHWRIGHT

Austin L. Douthwright, 91, of the Veteran Health Center in Moncton, formerly of Albert Mines, NB, passed away on June 16, 2016, with his loving family by his side.

Austin was born in Albert Mines on November 17th,1924, the son of the late Frederick and Mina (Wood) Douthwright.

He joined the Canadian Army in 1943, having been trained as a tank driver in Canada. After his training Austin then went to England in July of 1944 and remustard to infantry Essex Scottish Regiment of Windsor, ON C Company. In August of 1944, he went to the Western Front, later being wounded in Holland in September 1944, and could not serve for one month. Austin returned to Regiment while fighting in Hochwald Forest, Germany where he was once again wounded. His company commander was Major Fred Tilson who received the highest award, The Victoria Cross. After the war, he continued to live in Germany for a year. In April 1946, Austin returned home and worked in Albert County until 1954 when he reenlisted to the R.C.A.F May of 1954. In 1974, Austin retired from the Air Force. He was honored to have received the Canadian Forces Decoration.

Following his years served, Austin began driving school bus for the Hillsborough School Board until his retirement. While living in Albert Mines, he joined the local Legion Branch #32 in Hillsborough, where he was very active and served as a past President and also became a lifetime member. He was very proud to have received the highest legion award "Palm Leaf" to the Meritorious Service Medal. He was also a member of the Air Force Vet Club. He was a faithful member of the Albert Mines Baptist Church. Austin also enjoyed his sports, his favorites being hockey and baseball, having umpired many local games. He loved fishing and hunting and was a member of the Shepody Fish & Game. He will be remembered for his kind and caring ways. "Your gentle smile and generous heart will live with us forever."

He will be sadly and deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Joan (Steeves) Douthwright; 3 daughters, Joy Snelgrove (Donny) of Edgett's Landing, Ellen Beal (Craig) of Shenstone, Shelley Douthwright at home; son Terry Douthwright (Cathy) of St. George; his treasured 9 grandchildren and 2 precious great grandsons; sister-in-law, Beth Douthwright of Riverview. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews, his In-Laws in different parts of Ontario, and by many good friends.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Simpson; sisters, Vera, Cora, Dora, Ida, and infant sister Jean; brothers, Cecil, Charlie, and Melvin. Austin was the last surviving member of his immediate family.


157. Nelson DOUTHWRIGHT

SALISBURY - The death of Thomas Nelson Douthwright of Salisbury occurred Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Valentine Douthwright of Salisbury. He was 86.
Born in Little River, Albert County, he was the son of the late Aaron and Adelaide Douthwright.
Surviving are his second wife, Ada Hopper Davis; three daughters, Mrs. Valentine Douthwright (Greta) of Salisbury; Mrs. Reginald Lewis (Virginia) of Salisbury and Mrs. Russell Morrisey of Ajax, Ont.; four sons, Gordon of Salisbury, Robert of Niagara Falls, Ont., Richard of Port Arthur, Ont., and Owen of Powell River, B.C.; four stepsons, Orville Davis of England, Harold Davis of Niagara Falls, Ont., Reginald of Fredericton, and Fred Davis of Salisbury; one sister, Mrs. Alfred Douthwright (Clara) of Salisbury; 31 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The body is resting at Armstrong's funeral home, Petitcodiac where funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Died: Thursday, April 2, 1970


Irene Helen MITTON

Irene Helen Douthwright, 77, of Colpitts Settlement passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Prosser Brook, she was a daughter of the late Allison and Annie (Geldart) Mitton.
A homemaker, Irene was an active member of the Nixon Baptist Church and enjoyed family gatherings and country drives.
Survived and sadly missed by her children Brenda Steeves (Wade), Faye Colpitts (Lenny) and Clint Douthwright (Lisa) all of Colpitts Settlement; cherished granddaughters Jessica, Maegan, Alicia, Shae-Lynn, Sabrina, Abagail and Amanda; step-grandchildren Colton and Chelsea; great-grandchildren Logan, Emily, Wyatt, Mason, Charlotte, Kaylee, Evan and Mason. Survived also by her sisters Josephine Crossman, Pauline Lemarre, Margaret Gauvin, Gertrude Wilson and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by her former husband Owen; son Douglas, daughter Donna; sisters Lillian Black and Rose Black; brothers Irvine, Clinton, Norman, Evans, Al and Ron Mitton.
Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Monday 6 to 9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, May 5 at 4 p.m. with Pastor Paul Leger officiating. Interment at the Nixon Cemetery.

Death- George Beverly Douthwright died age 71, born in Little River. Parents Aaron and Adelaide Douthwright. Cause of death failing health for several months.

Member of the Nixon Baptist Church. Survived by wife Mary, one daughter Myrtle, five sons William, Lewis, Vernon, Adam, Clarence (Archie). Two sisters Mrs Alfred Douthwright and Mrs Bessie Murray, one brother Nelson Douthwright. Interment Fairhaven.

Colpitts Settlement (Special) Mary Douthwright, 71, passed away June 9, 1981, widow of George B. Douthwright, Colpitts Settlement, died Tuesday at the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Forest Hill, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Ella (Douthwright) Harrison. She was a member of Colpitts United Church and the Salisbury Golden Age Senior Citizen Club . She is survived by one daughter Myrtle Douthwright, Colpitts Settlement, five sons Lewis, Adam, Vernon, Clarence all of Colpitts Settlement, William of Salisbury; one brother Hartley Harrison, Gagetown, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
The body is resting at Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac with funeral service to be held at the funeral home Thursday at 2 pm.

LEWIS EDWARD DOUTHWRIGHT March 24th 1931-- February 28th, 2001. The death of Lewis Edward Douthwright of Colpitts Settlement occurred at the Dr. George Dumont Hospital Wednesday February 28th, 2001. Born in Colpitts Settlement March 24th 1931 he was the son of the late George Beverly and Mary (Harrison) Douthwright. Lewis worked for over 25 years with Fawcetts Lumber in Petitcodiac before retirement. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also wery talented with woodworking. He is survived by his brothers William(Della), of Salisbury, and Vernon(Patricia) of Colpitts Settlement, his sister-in-law Eleanor Douthwright also of Colpitts Settlement,as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Myrtle in 1999 and his brother Clarence in 1998, brother Adam in 2000. Resting at Fair Haven

Adam Beverly Douthwright, of Colpitts Settlement, passed away at his residence on Friday March 24, 2000.

Born on July 11, 1937 in Little River, NB. He was the son of the late George Beverly & Mary (Harrison) Douthwright, both of Little River , NB. He was employed as propane service and repair technician with Irving Oil have recently received his 25 year watch. Adam enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and travelling through the woods on his four wheeler.

He is survived by three brothers, William (Della) of Colpitts Settlement, Lewis with whom he resided, Vernon (Pat) of Colpitts Settlement, sister-in-law Eleanor Douthwright; many nieces sand nephews. Pre-deceased by one brother Clarence( Archie); also two sisters Myrtle, and Treva.

Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home(852-3530), 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton with visiting hours on Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 27, 2000 at 2 pm. Myrtle Darlene Douthwright, 60 of Colpitts Settlement, NB, passed away on Thursday August 19, 1999 at the Moncton City Hospital.

Born on August 18, 1939, in Colpitts Settlement, she was the daughter of George Beverly & Mary (Harrison) Douthwright. She was homemaker. She was also a member of the Colpitts United Church.

She is survived by four brothers, William (Della) of Salisbury Back Road, Lewis, Vernon(Pat) and Adam all of Colpitts Settlement, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Treva and a brother Clarence(Archie).

Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home( 852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, with visiting hours Sunday 7-9. The funeral will be held at the Fair Haven Funeral

Colpitts Settlement- Clarence Archibald(Archie) Douthwright, 54 of Colpitts Settlement , passed away Saturday February 7, 1998 at the Moncton City Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Born in Colpitts Settlement, he was the son of the late everly and Mary (Harrison) Douthwright. An employee with NB liquor Commission with over 25 years service, he was a member of Albert County Hunters Association.

Survived by his wife, Eleanor (Douthwright) Douthwright, two daughters Starla and Shawna of Colpitts Settlement, a son Lloyd ( Maxine) of Moncton, a sister Myrtle Douthwright four brothers, William (Della) , Lewis, Vernon and Adam all of Colpitts Settlement. Also survived by two step grandchildren, Jonathon and Anthony and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, west Main Street, Salisbury (372-4800) with visiting hours Sunday from 7-9 pm. And Monday from 2-4 pm. The funeral will be held from Salisbury Funeral Home on Monday evening, February 9, 1998 at 7pm with Pastor Gary Taylor officiating. Interment at the Nixon Cemetary at a later date.
Douthwright-The funeral service for the late Clarence (Archie) Douthwright was held from the Salisbury Funeral Home, February, 9, 1998 with Pastor Gary Taylor officiating. Organist was Donna Lirette. Soloist was Blaine Douthwright (Nephew) who sang : In The Garden” and “ Mansion On The Hill”.

Pallbearers were Lloyd, Adam, and Thomas Douthwright, Fred and Danny Davis, and Dave Alward. The committal service was held at the Salisbury Funeral Home with burial in the Nixon Cemetary in the spring.The family wishes to thank all who sent floral tributes, memorials, sympathy cards and food to their home and to those who provided the reception after the service.

396. Fred Manning DOUTHWRIGHT

Fred Manning Douthwright, 94, of Salisbury passed away peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Veterans' Health Care Centre, Moncton. Born in Petitcodiac, he was a son of the late Manning and Flora (Davis) Douthwright. Fred served his country in World War II as a Gunner with the 65th Anti Tank Battery throughout Contential Europe. He retired from C.F.B. Moncton as a Carpenter Supervisor after 35 years. He was the last surviving charter member of the Middlesex Baptist Church and was a member of the RCL Branch 31 Salisbury and the Salisbury Lions Club. Fred enjoyed golf in his younger years, hunting and time spent at the camp and seldom missed a Toronto Blue Jays game.

Survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Winnifred (Steeves); his children Clayton and Brian of Salisbury and Joanne Mitton (David) of Salisbury West; cherished grandaughter Melissa of Moncton and great grandaughter Myla and by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Gerald and Earl and an infant sister.

Gerald W. Douthwright,70 of Bannister Road,Middlesex, passed away at home Monday,October 26, 1998 following a sudden illness. Born in Little River, he was the son of the late Manning and Flora (Davis) Douthwright. Gerald was a retired auto body repairman and was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Middlesex. Survived by three daughters Heather Rayner (Lee) of Alberton PEI, Robin Parent (Brian) of Hamilton, Ontario, Catherine Douthwright of Groves, Texas, a son Gerald A. (Barbara) of Middlesex, a brother Fred (Winifred) of Salisbury, five grandchildren and one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his wife Mamie in March of 1996; a brother Earl and an infant sister Annie. Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, Main Street, Salisbury (372-4800) with visiting hours 2-4, 7-9 pm. 172. Jessie Bell DOUTHWRIGHT

The death of Mrs. Jessie Douthwright, widow of Joseph Douthwright, of Petitcodiac, occurred Thursday at the Sussex Health Centre following a lengthy illness. She was 80.
Born in Forest Hill, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Jerushia Douthwright. She attended the Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond McLong (Evelyn), Petitcodiac, Mrs. Kenneth Perkins (Frances), Saint John, Mrs. Fred Davis (Florence), Little River, Albert County; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immedicate family.
