482. Lena STEEVES

Lena Prosser
1923 - 2011 - Lena P. Prosser, 87, of Riverview, with members of her family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday morning, February 23, 2011. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora (Douthwright) Steeves. Lena was a regular attendee of the Salisbury Merrymakers, an avid card player (cribbage and bridge), enjoyed her extended family at Buckingham Place, but first and foremost was spending quality time with her family. Lena will be sadly missed by her loving family, son Roger, Moncton; daughters Linda Duguay (Gary), Sudbury, ON, Carol Locke (Rev. Philip), New Minas, NS, Kathy LeBlanc (Raymond), Moncton, Faye Eldridge, New Minas, NS, Lois Cormier (Gerald), Fredericton; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leon; daughter Sheila and son Leslie. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday February 26, 2011, 11:00 am, Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Pleasant Vale Baptist Church Cemetery. In Lena’s memory, donations to the Pleasant Vale Baptist Church or a memorial of choice would be appreciated.


272. Daisy Bell Levinia DOUTHWRIGHT


The death of Daisy Isabel Levinia Douthwright, widow of Vaughan Douthwright, of Alma, occurred Monday, December 31st at the Albert County Hospital after a brief illness. She was 64.
Born at Riverside, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Douthwright and Elizabeth Matthews. She attended Riverside Holy Ghost Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Audrey Daley, (Evelyn) of Albert, and Mrs. Gary Collins, (Brenda) of Riverside; three sons, Gerald and Ronald both of Alma, and Leo of British Columbia; one sister, Hazel Roberts; and 13 grandchildren.

May 29,1907 - Child Badly Burned (The Albert Journal) > > > Greta five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chandler Douthrite of > Hillsboro received a very bad burn one day last week. While her mother was busy > with household duties the little girl without the knowledge of her mother > secured some matches and was trying to light a fire in the yard around the > house, when the burning match ignited the light inflammable material of her > dress. The cries of the child attracted Mr. Bliss Douthrite, who was not far > distant, but before he could get the fire extinguished the little girl was > badly burned about the arms, side, neck and face. Dr Marven was called and > found the burns to be a very serious nature and fatal ending was feared > but the latest reports indicate that there are good prospects for the little > girl’s recovery. Had not Mr. Douthrite succeeded in getting the fire out as > soon as he did the child would have been burned to death. In putting out > the flames Mr. Douthrite suffered burns about the hands but his heroic > effort saved a life.


504. J.E."Bud" DOUTHWRIGHT

DOUTHWRIGHT, J. E. "BUD" - 1920 - 2012 - J. E. "Bud" Douthwright formerly of Moncton, passed away peacefully, 10 days short of his 92nd birthday, surrounded by his family at the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor (Riverview) on Saturday, September 1st, 2012. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Harvey and Adelia (Ayles) Douthwright. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Royal Canadian Army. Bud was retired from School District # 15. Bud will be sadly missed by his loving wife; Winona L. (MacLean), daughters; Kathleen Smith (James) of Lutes Mountain, Linda Vautour (Aurele) of Dieppe and Elsa Sage (Don) of Moncton, sons Alan Douthwright (Brenda) of Lutes Mountain and Glen Douthwright (Joanne) of Moncton, 10 grand children, 11 great grandchildren, five great great granchildren, sister Shirley Gallant (Ben) of Moncton and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bud is predeceased by a son; James Douglas (1949), sisters; Helen Paddock, Jean Geggie, Marjorie Anderson, Peggy Matchett and brothers; Rae, Kenneth, Clarence, Austin and Don.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, 171 Lutz Street on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Elizabeth Wall officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Donations in Bud's memory made to The Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Riverview, would be appreciated by the family. Winona MACLEAN

Winona L. Douthwright, 96, formerly of Watson Ave. Moncton; passed away at Salvation Army Lakeview Manor in Riverview, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Born in MacLean Settlement, NB on April 16, 1920; she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Olevia (Jones) MacLean. She was a retired employee of Woolworth Co. Ltd.

Winnie enjoyed crossword puzzles, however her greatest love was keeping close and in touch with her grandchildren.

Left with fond memories are her three daughters Kay Smith (Jim) of Lutes Mountain, Linda Vautour (the late Aurele) of Dieppe and Elsa Sage (Don) of Moncton; her two sons Alan Douthwright (Brenda) of Lutes Mountain and Glen Douthwright (Joanne) of Moncton; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews.

Winnie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James "Bud" Douthwright in 2012 ; by a son James Douglas in 1949; also by eight siblings.

Resting at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.

The Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, NB

1936-2010
Pauline E. Douthwright, 73 years, formerly of Peoples Park Tower in Moncton, passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Home on Sunday, February 7, 2010. Born in Moncton, NB she was the daughter of the late Frank and Flora (Wells) Douthwright. Pauline was a member of Highfield Baptist Church. Left with fond memories are her two sisters Josie Vickers (Bob) and Freda LeBlanc both of Moncton; brother Paul E. Douthwright of Moncton; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her special friend Kenneth Branscombe; four sisters Edna Coates, Flora Matthews, Marjorie Douthwright and Yvonne Colburn and by two brothers Frank and Robert Douthwright. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Lutz St. Moncton with visitation on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the service. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 2:30pm. with Rev. Jonathan Steeper officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring.
