234. Deborah Irene BANNISTER

BANNISTER-GARBER, DEBORAH - Deborah Irene Bannister-Garber, 61, of Salisbury passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at her home. Born in Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Ethel (Mason) Bannister. Deborah worked as a secretary at the Moncton Air Traffic Control Center until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting and putting together puzzles. Deborah is survived and missed by her son Richard (Christie) of Canaan Forks and grandson Edward; brothers David (Helen), Leonard and Perry (Maureen) all of Colpitts Settlement; sisters Ruth Leaman (Russell) and Kelly Hodgson (John) both of Ferndale and Coreen Clark (Doug) of Petitcodiac and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is predeceased by a sister Helen Bishop and brother Sonny Bannister. Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Thursday, May 31, 6 to 9 pm and from where the funeral will be held Friday, June 1 at 2 pm. 239. Perry BANNISTER

Perry Bannister, 59, of Colpitts Settlement, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Russell and Ethel (Mason) Bannister.

Perry worked most of his life at Waddy and Colpitts Farm until his retirement. He spent several years on the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department, retiring as Captain in 2014. Through the years he loved hunting, fishing, darts, anything in the great outdoors. Nothing brought Perry more happiness than a good joke or seeing his granddaughters. There was no one more loyal or quick to lend a hand.

Perry will forever live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 41 years, Maureen (Weir); their children, Heidi Cunningham (Derek) and John-Ross Bannister all of Colpitts Settlement; precious granddaughters, Victoria and Veronica Cunningham; siblings Ruthie Leaman (Russell), David Bannister (Helen), Leonard Bannister, Coreen Clark (Doug), and Kellie Hodgin (John); sisters-in-law, Ardis Noiles (Andy), Julia MacCallum, Gwennie Joyce (Paul); along with several nieces, nephews, and so many friends and extended family; including his great-nephew Jordan who he had a special relationship with and his buddies, Keith, Kevin, and Dave – you kept him young.

In addition to his parents, Perry was predeceased by his sisters, Deborah Garber, Helen Bishop (Orris); brother, Russell "Sonny" Bannister; sister-in-law, Lynda Bannister (Lenny); and brothers-in-law, Charles Murphy and Floyd MacCallum (Julia).

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Perry`s Life at 47 Bannister Rd, Colpitts Settlement, on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 2 -6 pm. Covid restrictions apply. Interment will be held in Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are in care of The Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800).

Maureen WEIR

Maureen Bannister, 63, of Colpitts Settlement, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 31, 2022. Born in Parrsboro, NS, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy Weir (Dowe) and Lorne Murphy. Maureen was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Perry Bannister, only two months ago. A love story from childhood, they are now together again.

Maureen spent most of her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Many a resident over the years caught her heart. Through the years, she loved playing darts, reading, planting and tending her flowers, and listening to music. She loved concerts and a good party. A gruff exterior with a heart of gold, Maureen was the fiercest Mama Bear any kid or grandchild could have had. Nobody was prouder of her kids or granddaughters.

Maureen will forever live on in the hearts of her children, Heidi Cunningham (Derek); and her "miracle" son, John-Ross Bannister; precious granddaughters, Veronica and Victoria (Jacob) Cunningham; sisters, Ardis Noiles (Andy), Julia MacCallum (The late Floyd), Gwen Joyce (Paul); siblings-in-law, Coreen Clark (Doug), Kellie Hodgin (John), David Bannister (Helen), Leonard Bannister (The late Lynda), Ruthie Leaman (Russell), along with several uncles, her aunt Millie Weir (Lloyd), nieces, nephews, and so many friends and family. Thank-you to Julia for being Mama #2 to Bennie and to Ardis for all the time spent caring for mom these last few months.

Henry Everett BANNISTER

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Henry R. Bannister of Moncton, New Brunswick, born in Pine Glen, New Brunswick, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Henry left this world on June 21, 2024 at the age of 94, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Rafe Bannister and Nancy Bannister (Wells); his wife Emily Bannister; his sons, Thedore "Teddy" Bannister and Wayne Bannister; and his siblings, Myrtle, Dorothy, James, Helen, Ethel, Lewis, Roland and John.

He is survived by : his children, Ralph Bannister (Eleanor) of Moncton, Stephen Bannister (Donna) of Pine Glen, William Bannister of Pine Glen, Jason Bannister of Pine Glen, Henry Jr. Bannister (Sandy Taylor) of Moncton and Henrietta Bannister of Pine Glen; his grandchildren, Tammy Roberts, Cody Roberts, Kandace Bannister, Alex Bannister and Joey Bannister; and his sister Beatrice Trites of Pine Glen. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 30th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Pine Glen Community Center.


255. Helen GARLAND

GARLAND, HELEN - Helen Garland of Moncton passed away peacefully at Forest Dale Nursing Home on January 9, 2015 at the age of 78. Born in Church’s Corner, NB, January 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mabel (Bannister) Garland. Helen is survived by her sister Geraldine Garland, cousins; Gerald (Margaret) and Tracy McCully, David Martin, Darrell Martin and Kimberly. She will also be missed by her friends, including The Coneen Family. Helen began her career at Eatons and worked for UAP Napa for 31 years, until her retirement in 2008, she loved gardening, traveling and getting together with friends.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 12:30 to 2:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday at 2:00 pm. 257. Roy BANNISTER

Roy Bannister 1943-2001 The death of Roy Bannister, of St.George St., Moncton, and formerly of Pine Glen, NB, occurred on Sunday, December 30, 2001 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Pine Glen, NB on April 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Roland and Marion (Elliott) Bannister. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Mollins Excavating Ltd. Roy is survived by a sister, Theresa Lutes (John) of Turtle Creek and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters Kathleen Dunham and Barbara Webber. At Roy's request, there will not be any visitation or funeral service. The family will receive visitors at the home of Harold and Beatrice Trites on the Pine Glen Rd., Saturday, January 5th at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations to the charity of the donor's choice. 267. Alfred Carl SMITH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Smith on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Born in Moncton, son of the late Herman and Myrtle Smith.
Alfred will be sadly missed by his three sisters; Phyllis Killiam, Myrtle Campbell and Frances (Garfield) Zimmer, two brothers Ranford (Crystal) Smith and Morris Smith, three step daughters; Virginia Matthews, Bobbi-Jo Matthews and Angela Saulnier as well as several nieces and nephews.
In respect with Alfred's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at Fair Haven Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations in Alfred's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.

BANNISTER, JAMES M. - 1921 - 2013 - James M. Bannister, formerly of Pine Glen, NB; passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the age of 92. Born in Pine Glen, NB he was the son of the late Ralph and Nancy (Wells) Bannister. James was a former lumberman and construction worker prior to his retirement. He attended Bethel Baptist Church. James will be sadly missed by daughter Vivian Bannister of Moncton; son Russell Bannister (the late Ardith) of Red Deer, AB; by his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister Beatrice Trites (Harold) of Pine Glen; brothers, Lewis (Geraldine) of Pine Glen, Henry (the late Emily), of Pine Glen and John (Louise) of Moncton as well as nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Irene Bannister in 1995, his son George, brother Roland, sisters Ethel, Helen, Dorothy and Myrtle.
Visitation will be held at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Thursday September 26, 2013 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Dorothy Bernice Jordan – 89, McCaul Villa, Great Village, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday evening, March 19, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born September 19, 1923, in Surrey, Albert County, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Nancy (Wells) Bannister.

Dorothy enjoyed listening to country music, doing jigsaw puzzles and trying her luck with scratch tickets. She loved her family and devoted her life to them. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Marguerite Gregory (Wendell Rushton), Lower Truro; Phyllis Rushton, Great Village; Paulette (Allen) Rushton, Vanastra, Ontario; Darlene Jordan (Wyman Little), Great Village; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice (Harold) Trites, Pine Glen, New Brunswick; brothers, James Bannister, Henry Bannister, Lewis (Geraldine) Bannister, John (Louise) Bannister, al of Pine Glen, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Randall Jordan; daughter, Linda Diane Jordan in infancy; sons, John Randall Jordan in infancy; Donald Jordan, Gary Jordan; sister, Myrtle Smith, Helen Bishop, Ethel Bishop; great-great granddaughters, Taylor Williams, Molly Hill.

Born in Alma, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Randall and Dorothy (Bannister) Jordan. Marguerite was well-known and loved by many. She enjoyed her time spent with family making memories at the camp, baking pies, knitting and going to the jams. She adored her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Marguerite is survived by her loving children, daughter, Nancy (Clayton) Williams; son, Mark (Krista) Gregory; grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan, Connor, Cole and Sarah; bonus grandchildren, Erin and Carrie Barclay; sister, Darlene Jordan; special uncle, Edmond Jordan. She was predeceased by her husband, Upert Gregory; sisters, Phyllis and Paulette Rushton, Linda Jordan in infancy; brothers, Gary and Donald Jordan, Jackie Jordan in infancy; granddaughter, Taylor Gregory. 142. Lewis Roy BANNISTER

It is with a sense of sadness yet rejoicing that we announce the home going of Lewis "Lew" Bannister on January 12, 2024 within the presence of his family at Lakeview Manor, Riverview as he went to be with his Lord and Saviour. Born in Pine Glen, NB, he was 96 yrs old and was the son of the late Ralph and Nancy (Wells) Bannister.

Lew retired from the Department of Transportation after many years service, he enjoyed his time working as gate keeper of the Causeway Gates in Riverview. In earlier years he worked at Modern Construction and spent most of his working years at Byron Dobson, within the building industry. Lew enjoyed hunting, fishing, he loved beating people at darts and dominos, cheering on the "Blue Jays" and above all he enjoyed family time.

A loving, caring and dedicated husband, father, grand and great grandfather, brother and friend, he will be sadly missed by his children Stella Laird, Joyce Wilson (Gary), Marilyn Lowe, Robert (Lynn) and Jeremy (Hailey) all of Pine Glen; seven grandchildren Robert, John, Clayton, Kyle, Seth and Hannah all of Moncton and Shalon (Manitoba) and Bruce (Ontario); many great-grandchildren; sister Beatrice (Harold) Trites of Pine Glen; and brother Henry of Pine Glen; as well as many nieces and nephews and many neighbourhood kids who called him "Grampy B". Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Geraldine M. (Douthwright) Bannister in 2015; siblings Ethel Bishop, John Bannister, Jimmy Bannister, Roland Bannister, Myrtle Smith, Helen Bishop, Dorothy Jordan; grand-daughter Sara Joy Wilson and daughter in law Jodey Bannister; grandson Kane Bannister.

Visitation will be held at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre on Monday, January 15, 2015 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm & 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The home going service will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 16, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Stearns officiating.

Geraldine Marion DOUTHWRIGHT

It is with a sense of sadness yet rejoicing that we announce the home going of Gerladine "Grammie B" Bannister on May 8, at 4:10pm, who left Lakeview Manor, Riverview to be with her Lord and Saviour. Born in Stoney Creek, NB, she was 83 yrs old and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Marion Douthwright.
She was a Charter Member of Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the church choir for many years.
Every child growing up around her home and in her church to this day call her Grammie B. Though some are not grandchildren by blood they certainly were by love, and she loved each and every one of them equally.
"Grammie B" loved to cook and was famous for her Turkey Suppers with the "I can't get enough of that dressing" however it was her donuts that have gained fame as the "Best in the World", and was in demand here and in the United States. She was very handy with her hands from gardening to crafts.
A loving, caring and dedicated wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, sister and friend, she will be sadly missed by husband of 67 years Lewis "Lew" Bannister; her children Stella Laird, Joyce Wilson (Gary), Marilyn Lowe, Robert (Lynn) and Jeremy Bannister all of Pine Glen; seven grandchildren Robert, John, Clayton, Kyle and Seth all of Moncton and Shalon (Manitoba) and Bruce (Ontario); nine great-grandchildren; sister Thelma Allen of Etobicoke, ON; and brother Richard Douthwright (Carol) of Irishtown; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She will also be sadly missed by Seth's mother Lisette Doucett of Moncton.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by sisters Beulah, Ella, Barb and Sheila; a brother Harry, granddaughter Sara Joy Wilson and daughter-in-law Jodey Bannister.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The home going service will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 12, at 1:00pm with Pastor Jim Eagles and Pastor Jerry Stearns officiating. Interment will be held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
