481. Vivian Phyllis BANNISTER

With heavy hearts, the family of Vivian Phyllis Bannister (MacDonald) announce her passing at her home, in Edmonton, Alberta on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the age of 77 years. Vivian was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick but also lived large parts of her life in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. At her core, she was a Maritimer who welcomed people to her dinner table, treasured her friends and family, and held a kindred spirit with nature and all animals. She loved to laugh, even at herself, and had that special knack for always having a joke or story to tell. Vivian worked hard all her life, doing physical labor that many 5’2” women would balk at. Most recently, she was a loving private caregiver who made real differences in the lives of vulnerable people. Her clients knew they had a special person who could be trusted to care for them properly. Beyond the people she loved, Vivian’s love for animals was genuine, and she could (and would) tell you details about the different characteristics of every pet she ever owned in her entire life. Vivian lived larger than her stature. She truly sparkled in every environment, loved adventure, cried as easily as she laughed, and fearlessly tackled every obstacle she faced. Her spirit lives on in those she touched - everywhere, across the country. Vivian will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Russell (Ardith) Bannister; her former spouse, Roy Eagles; her children, Timothy Eagles, Gary Eagles, James (Tara) MacDonald, and Sandy (Kelly) MacDonald; her grandchildren, Joseph, Lyndon, Brandon, Rylan, Reese, Keenan, Carlie, Tristan, Brent, Leah, and James; and her fourteen great grandchildren; as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family who will never forget her. Vivian was predeceased by her parents, James and Irene Bannister; her former spouse, Duncan MacDonald; her former spouse, Paul Leger; her brother, George (Judy) Bannister; her sister-in-law, Ardith Bannister; and her grandsons, Jared MacDonald and Dolan Irwin. A Celebration of Vivian’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend, the Service will be live streamed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
