Obituary
Helen Crossman of Pine Glen NB passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday Feb. 27, 2024 with her family at her side. Born in Moncton she was the daughter of the late Percy Schofield and Matilda (O'Blenis)

Prior to her retirement Helen worked at Deluxe French Fries on St. George St. and Rivercrest Variety in Gunningsville for several years. She was an amazing woman who excelled at everything she attempted, from cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, bowling and darts. She was known for making excellent divinity fudge and donuts.

She will be dearly missed by sons Robert and Travis (Valerie) and her daughters Judith Hillier (Robert), Linda Gray, Dawn Mercure, son in law Robert Lutes, and sister Beatrice Schofield, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Russell, sister Ethel Lutz, daughters Marilyn Lutes and Carolyn Cameron.

Respecting her wishes, cremation will take place at Cobb's funeral Home and Cremation Center and a private graveside service will take place At Fair Haven Cemetery at a later date


451. Carolyn Ruth CROSSMAN

1950 - 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Carolyn Ruth Cameron at the Moncton Hospital on Feb 26, 2021 after a battle with cancer. She is now reunited with her husband Jack.
Predeceased by her father Russell Crossman.
She is sadly missed by her three sons John, Jason and Jayme all at home. Her mother Helen; brothers, Robert and Travis Crossman of Pine Glen; sisters Marilyn (Robert) Dawn Mercure, Linda Grey and Judy Hillier of Mississauga, ON; brother-in-law Gerald and Olive Crossman and sisters-in-law Mary and Joan Cameron. Also by many nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic and social distancing protocols there will be no public services held. A private graveside will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in the spring.

Freda RICKER

Freda Eudora Crossman
The death of Freda Eudora Crossman, widow of the late W. Leslie Crossman, of Lakeview Manor and formerly of Pine Glen occurred at her residence on Sunday August 4th 2002. Born in Turtle Creek on September 27th 1914 she was the daughter of the late Beverly and Dora (Berry) Ricker. She had attended the Bethel Baptist Church. A homemaker she enjoyed quilting, sewing and was a very good cook.
She is survived by her daughters Iva Frazee (James) of Pine Glen, Carolyn Demmings (Lee) of Lower Coverdale, Lorna Dunfield (Gordon) of Upper Coverdale, Brenda Demmings (Gary) of Dawson Settlement, Elaine Eagles (Colin) of Pine Glen, one son Wayne Crossman of Moncton, one sister Lydia Gilbert of Riverview and one brother Russell Ricker (Audrey) of Parkindale, 16 grand children, 19 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by two infant children, three brothers Otis, Herman and Naaman and one sister Hilda Fullerton.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home (852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Rd. Moncton with visiting hours Monday 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be on Wednesday August 7th at 2pm in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow in the family reception room of the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations made to the Lakeview Manor Bus Fund, or the Alzheimer’s society would be appreciated by the family.

458. Eleanor CROSSMAN

WARD, ELEANOR - 1926-2012 - Eleanor Ward passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the age of 86. Born in Moncton on January 20, 1926, she was the wife of the late William Ward. She was the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Lane) Crossman. She is survived by her five sisters, Doris MacLennan (late Sandy) of Halifax, Hazel Twigger (Harry) of Quispamsis, Joan Garland (Dale) and Betty Melvin (Doug) of Moncton, Brenda Magee (David), and one brother, Roderick (Faye), both of Riverview, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Mildred (Brewster) Crossman; two brothers, Clarence and Ronald Crossman; and one sister, Marina Smith.
Her funeral was held on Friday, August 3, 2012 with interment at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.


459. Eleanor CROSSMAN

WARD, ELEANOR - 1926 - 2012 - Eleanor Ward passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 at the age of 86. Born in Moncton on January 20, 1926, she was the wife of the late William Ward. She is survived by her sister Doris MacLennan of Halifax, by her four step sisters and one step brother all from Moncton. Also survived by close friends Harold and Thelma Berry of Stoney Creek, NB. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents John and Mildred (Brewster) Crossman and by several siblings. Eleanor was employed for many years as an office manager at Zellers in Moncton.
Eleanor will be resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, August 2nd, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A funeral service to celebrate Eleanor’s life will be held in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday, August 3 at 2:00pm with Dr. Terry Branscombe officiating. Interment to follow at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice

Rhoda Maria COLLIER

CROSSMAN, RHODA - 1923 - 2011 - Rhoda Crossman, 88 years, passed away at The Jordan Lifecare Center, on Sunday, December 25, 2011. Born in Pleasant Vale, NB on February 13, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Irving and Bina (Leaman) Collier. She was a retired employee of the Cash and Carry Dry Cleaning, working in reception and receiving. She is survived by her daughters Sheila Burt of Moncton, Joan Murray (Arthur) of Riverview, Deborah Murray (Fred) Riverview; sons Cerdic (Thea MacDonald) Crossman of Berryton, Gene (Gail) Crossman of Petitcodiac; daughter in law Linda Crossman of Moncton; thirteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Leverett Crossman in 1991; sons Robert, Brian and Gary; grandson Tony; sisters Vera Wilson and Dorothy Lutes and brother Cerdic.
A family graveside Service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. Donations in Rhoda's memory made to the Canadian Cancer would be appreciated by the family. 466. Gary CROSSMAN

1950 - 2011 - Gary L. Crossman of Moncton passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 at the age of 60. Born in Turtle Creek, NB, July 5th, 1950 he is the son of Rhoda (Collier) Crossman and the late Leverett Crossman.Gary “Sweetie” became a quadriplegic as the result of a motor vehicle accident at the age of 22. Gary wasted no time getting involved in the community, including one of the founders of Ability Transit, involvement in many wheel chair sports, housing and wheelchair accessibility for the disabled, lecturing at schools on the dangers of drinking and driving. Garys deteriorating health, due to bed sores prevented him from continuing to volunteer. He is survived by his wife Linda “Babe” (LeBlanc) Crossman, his mother Rhonda of the Jordan Life Care Centre, Riverglade, sisters; Joan Murray (Art), Debbie Murray (Fred) all of Riverview, Sheila Burt of Moncton, brothers; Cerdic (Thea) of Berryton and Gene (Gail) of Petitcodiac, as well as many, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he was predeceased by brothers Robert, Brian and a nephew Tony Campbell. At Gary’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. 484. David Dale PROSSER

David (Junior) Dale Prosser, 80, of Jordan LifeCare Centre and formerly of River Glade passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the centre.

Born in Petitcodiac, he was the son of the late David Irven and Ella Mae (Crandall) Prosser. David was retired from the Department of Transportation Commercial Vehicle Division. For many years he was an active Mason at the former Salisbury Masonic Lodge (past Worshipful Master), a member and Past President of the Salisbury Lions Club and member of Saint James United Church in Petitcodiac. He enjoyed spring sugarmaking, was a longtime caretaker of the Prosser Family Cemetery receiving an award for its restoration, and served as the committee chairperson for the Crandall family reunions. Family get togethers and visits were very important to David.

He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Isabel; daughter Susan Goddard (Brian), Alberta; sons Dale (Diane), River Glade and Gilbert (Debi), Alberta; grandchildren Amanda Goddard, Jennifer White (Jason), Callista Prosser (James), Nikita Prosser and Chastanity Prosser; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter, sister in law Carol Prosser and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by brothers Raymond and Norman; sister Wilma Rodgers and granddaughter Miranda.

Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Sunday, January 22, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m in the chapel. Intermnet at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.

Isabel Mary RUSSELL

Isabel Mary (Russell) Prosser, 80, on February 8, 2017, found release from the bonds of Alzheimer’s and is again holding hands with David in one of the Lords gardens.

Isabel was born to the late Alonzo and Katheran (Robinson) Russell in Pine Glen NB on July 5, 1936. She was also blessed to have had foster parents (late) Bliss and May Wilson.

She enjoyed the vocations of hair dressing and seamstress. In her early adult years, Isabel had a hairdressing salon in Salisbury and followed the trade for years. Later in life she was employed at the Jordan Memorial Auxiliary Home as a seamstress.

Isabel was actively involved with the Girl Guides of Canada and the Saint James United Church. She loved spending many hours singing within the rows of the Choir.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 58 yrs, David (Junior), and sisters, unknown infant twin and, Audrey (Russell) Benoit (Raymond), granddaughter Miranda

Survived by daughter Susan Goddard (Brian), Alberta; sons Dale (Diane), River Glade and Gilbert (Debi), Alberta; grandchildren Amanda Goddard, Jennifer White (Jason), Callista Prosser (James), Nikita Prosser and Chastanity Prosser; fourteen great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; sister Doris Shirley (Carter) Rae (Westville NS) and several nieces and nephews.

494. Eric George WEIR

WEIR, ERIC GEORGE - 1932-2011 - Eric George Weir, 79, of Riverview, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late John and Harriett (Smith) Weir. Eric attended the Nixon Baptist Church, a retired self employed woodsman and dump truck driver, who truly loved spending time working on his farm and with his horses. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Weir (Burrell), daughter; Ann Steeves (Peter) of Turtle Creek, son; Mitch (Cathy) of Colpitts Settlement; sisters; Audrey Steeves of Salisbury, Eleanor MacDonald and Esther Douthwright both of Turtle Creek, Eva Bannister of River Glade, brothers; Jack (Ruth) and Bennie (Vivian) both of Turtle Creek, his grandchildren; Tony, Corey, Kyle and Joselyn, great-grandchildren; Lyam and Ophelia as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Rick, sisters; Charlotte and Hilda, brothers; Ray, Guy, Clarence, and Howard. The funeral service will be held from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007), on Tuesday August 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Paul Leger officiating, the family receiving visitors from 1:00 PM, until the time of the service. 496. John (Jack ) WEIR

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Weir from Turtle Creek. John passed away Friday, May 30th 2025 at the Moncton Hospital. John is the son of the late John & Hattie (Smith) Weir.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Heather (Kevin); his sons: Victor (Maria) and Philip (Sue) as well as his brother in law, Charles Wilson who was like a son; his grandchildren: Matthew, Ashley, Paul, Vicky, Olivia, William and Cody; his great grandchildren: Jimmy, Miranda, Audrina, Jaden, Chloe and newest grand baby, Jack born May 21st; John is also survived by several nieces and nephews with special thanks to his niece, Faye (Terry) Henry for lovingly helping with the arrangements. Faye and Nadine’s father was Clarence (Betty) Weir, brother to John.

Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his brothers, Clarence, Ray, Guy, Howard, Eric, Benny and his sisters: Eleanor, Charlotte, Audrey, Eva and Hilda.

Dad loved doing so many things, especially lately he loved watching Wednesday night prayer meeting on country’s family reunion. Dad was a hard worker, he was district manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken and manager for Deluxe French Fries. He also worked for CN, logged with horses when he was younger and many other jobs. Most of all, John was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His guidance will be sadly and lovingly missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home from where a Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Sunday, June 1st at 2:00pm. Interment will take place following the service at the Hillside Cemetery.

497. Benjamin WEIR

Bennie K Weir, 80, of Turtle Creek, NB; passed away after a courageous and lengthy illness at The Moncton Hospital, on Saturday, December 31, 2016.

Born in Middlesex, he was the son of the late John and Hattie Weir. Bennie was a farmer, lumberman and construction worker. He loved his horses and dogs and liked watching western movies. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Vivian (Fearon); daughters Cheryl Pooley (Robin), Linda Bishop (Gary), Kelly and Sheila (Perry); sons Brian (Debra), Lindsay (Betty) and Kevin (Cathy); sister Elenor MacDonald (the late Ralph); brother Jack (Ruth); nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; as well several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by son Danny, sisters Hilda, Charlotte, Eva and Audrey; brothers Clarence, Guy, Ray, Howard and Eric.

498. Audrey WEIR

STEEVES, AUDREY - Audrey Nina Steeves, 73, of Jordan Life Care Centre and formerly of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late John and Harriett (Smith) Weir. Audrey was a homemaker, a member of the Middlesex Baptist Church and in her early working years did janitorial work at department stores in Moncton. She enjoyed music, especially at church, and spending time with her family. She is survived and missed by her son Norman J. Mitton (Angie) of Prosser Brook; grandchildren Tanya Mitton (Aaron) and Danny Mitton (Kelly); great grandchildren Jessica, Courtney, Bradley and Jaxon; brothers John Weir and Benjamin Weir (Vivian) both of Turtle Creek; sister Eleanor MacDonald of Turtle Creek; special niece Esther Douthwright and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by first husband Norman L. Mitton; second husband Carl Steeves; granddaughter Tammy L. Mitton; sisters Hilda Morrissey, Charlotte Martin and Eva Bannister and brothers Guy, Clarence, Raymond, Howard and Eric Weir.

499. Esther Evelyn WEIR

IT HAS BEEN KNOWN BY MANY THAT ESTER WAS A CHILD BORN FROM INCEST BETWEEN CHARLOTTE AND HER FATHER, JOHN WEIR. Ester Douthwright of Turtle Creek passed away at home on December 21, 2018 at the age of 73. Born in Petitcodiac, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte Martin.

She was a member of the Dawson Settlement Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and volunteering at the Lakeview Manor.

She will be deeply missed by her son, Allan (Lee) of Riverview; sisters, Eleanor MacDonald of Turtle Creek, Carol (Rick) Eagle; brothers, Jack Weir of Turtle Creek and Dale. Besides her parents, Ester was predeceased by her husband, Allan, in 1990, brothers, Eric, Ray, Guy, Clarence, Howard, Gerald and Benny, and sisters Hilda, Charlotte and Audrey.

A funeral service will be held for from Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 220 Whitepine Rd. Riverview, 869-2007 on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1:00pm with Rev. David Ross officiating. Visitation will take place before the service from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The interment will follow the service at Fair Haven Cemetery. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated by the family.
