Ethel Irene Collier ,93, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2008 at the Jordan Lifecare Center, the Glades N.B. Ethel was the only daughter of the late Arthur and Etta (Bannister) Leaman. She spent most of her years living in Riverview with her daughter Erma Kyle who predeceased her in 1990. She was also predeceased by her husband Manley Collier in 1975 and by her brothers, Omer, Walter, Henry, Bazil, Kenny and Woodrow Leaman. Survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Kyle (Roxanne) of Sussex and Cherry Seely (Richmond) of Upper Coverdale, great grandchildren Mitchell and Michaila Kyle and Jared Seely, step-grandchildren Carol Weaver of Ottawa, Gerald Kyle of Saint John, step-great grandchildren Hayley and Jason Kyle of Saint John and many nieces and nephews. Affectionately know as 'Nana', not only to her grandchildren but to anyone who got to know her, she loved to dance, knit and cook and had a wonderful sense of humour. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Monday 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday November 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. (1918 - 2015)
It is with great sadness we announce that Reta Geldart of the Grass Home, Riverview, and formerly of Little River, reached the end of her life's journey on Friday, February 20, 2015, at the age of 96. Born in Colpitts Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Whitmore and Etta (Bannister) Hopper.
Reta is survived by her daughters, Pauline/Polly (Lee), Alma and Anne, Little River and her son, Roger (Dianne), Little River; her grandchildren, Tara, Tim, Shane and Lindsay; her great grandchildren, Brooke-Lynn, Colson, Charlee and Raine; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hopper and Neta Hopper and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Reta was predeceased by her husband, Holly, in 2001. Reta was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by sisters, Alberta and Esther and brothers, Ottie, Roy, Randall and Wendell. Reta will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all her family.
She enjoyed cross country skiing, farm life and her vegetable garden, which she planted and cared for until she was 90. Every summer, she was busy making pickles and canning or freezing vegetables from her garden.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Grass Home for the exceptional care and kindness given to our mother.
A private graveside service will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM. HOPPER, WENDELL RICHARD - 1924-2013 - It is with true sadness that our family announces the passing of a beloved husband and father, Wendell which occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Born in Colpitts Settlement he was a son of the late Whitmore and Etta (Bannister) Hopper. He retired from Swifts Canada Ltd. after 30 years there and then worked with his neighbour, the late Austin Geldart at Geldart's Auto Salvage. Wendell loved country life, driving the back roads of Albert County with his friend, Gordon Colpitts, working at his yearly firewood duties and getting out fishing and hunting. Above all else came family and he was so happy that they lived close by. He will be missed by a loving and truly devoted wife of 60 years, Neta (Wilson); his children, Glenn (Charlene) and Elaine Carll (Jack); precious grandchildren, Nicole (Mike), Jaime (Tim) and Scott; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Brooklyn and Eliana. Survived also by sisters, Esther Elliott (late Walter) and Rita Geldart (late Holly); sister-in-law, Peggy Hopper; and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a great-grandson, Joshua; brothers, Roy, Randall and Ottie; sister, Alberta Hopper; and two infants.
The funeral will be held from the Salisbury Funeral Home Chapel, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) on Tuesday, August 20 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dan Compton officiating. A private family interment service will follow at the Wilson Cemetery, Little River. If desired, memorials to the Wilson Cemetery or the Nixon Cemetery would be appreciated by the family. MARTIN, EDITH - Edith Bernice Martin, 97, of Elgin, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Friday, October 12, 2012. Born at Collier Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (nee Bannister) Collier. Edith was a member of the First Elgin Baptist Church. She was a Dominion Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society, and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She enjoyed making quilts and homemaking. She was thankful that her desire was granted to stay home until the end. Edith was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Linkletter of Elgin, and Shirley Hall (Ralph) of Norton; her sons: Laurence Martin and Dean Martin (Carol), all of Elgin, and Edward Martin (Carole) and Kenneth Martin (Myrna), all of Petitcodiac; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; as well as by many extended family members. Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband, Cyril Martin; infant son, Ronald Martin; son-in-law, Parker Linkletter; daughter-in-law, Shirley Martin; great-grandson, Ryan Babcock; two brothers, and six sisters.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, from where visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Pastor David Hawkesworth presiding, at the First Elgin Baptist Church. MARTIN, EDWARD HARLAN - Edward Harlan Martin of Petitcodiac, passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on January 16, 2015 at the age of 73. Born in Elgin, Edward was a son of the late Cyril and Edith (nee Collier) Martin, and the loving husband of Carole (nee MacPhee) Martin. Edward was retired from CNR. He worked for 34 years, starting on a gang at age 18 and worked to become a leading signal communications technician in Canada. He was an adherent of St. James United Church, and a member of the 1st Elgin Baptist Church. He enjoyed snowmobiling and was an avid hockey and NASCAR fan, but his greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Edward took delight in giving the grandkids treats, and always made sure he had some with him. He spent many hours coaching minor hockey; he followed his grandchildren’s hockey games wherever they were playing. Besides his loving wife Carole, Edward is survived by his daughter Paula Martin; his sons: Greg (Bronwen) Martin and Jason (Angela) Martin; six grandchildren: Riley, Chloe, Quincy, Jesse, Eden and Lauren; his sisters: Phyllis Linkletter of Elgin and Shirley (Ralph) Hall of Norton; his brothers: Laurence Martin and Dean (Carol) Martin of Elgin, and Kenneth (Myrna) Martin of Petitcodiac; as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides his parents Edward was predeceased by his brother Ronald Martin, sister-in-law Shirley Martin and brother-in-law Parker Linkletter.

Floyd Prosser
1920-2010Floyd Prosser, age 90 years of Lower Coverdale, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
Born in Elgin, NB, on May 26th, 1920; he was the son of the late Girvan and Frances (Bannister) Prosser. He spent his younger years living in Riverside Albert. Floyd was a veteran of W.W.II, having served over seas from 1940 - 1946 with the 1st Canadian Armored Tank Brigade, and was previously employed with Westinghouse Canada. He was also a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #32 in Hillsborough.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 61 years Kathleen "Kay" (Kitchen) Prosser of Lower Coverdale; daughter Joan Seeglitz (Doug) of Riverview; sons Eric (Diane) of Moncton, Alan (Judy) of Wellington, NS and Peter at home; grandchildren James, Derek, Valerie, Jeffrey, Allison; also by several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In keeping with Floyd's wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
The Hillsborough Legion, Branch #32 will be holding a service at the Riverview Funeral Home on Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at 1:30pm, immediately following this service a Celebration of Life will take place with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the spring.
In memory of Floyd, donations made to the CNIB, Hillsborough Legion (Branch #32), or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family.
