She is also survived by ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four nieces and nephews; her brother Carl (Wanda) Bannister; sister-in-law Frances Bannister and her Aunt Edith Martin. Predeceased by her parents Elvin (1980) and Greta Bannister (1981); grandson Christopher Baxter (1992); brother Clarence Bannister (2001); sister
Hazel Lane (2002), and grandson Joel Bannister (2007).

BANNISTER, HILYARD - It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Hilyard Warden Bannister, 83, of Elgin, NB on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Moncton City Hospital. Born July 30, 1929, Hilyard was a son of the late Percy and Ada (Collier) Bannister. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Kathleen (Harrison) Bannister; daughter, Myrna (Kenneth) Martin of Petitcodiac; and by his son, Stephen (Debbie) of Elgin. Hilyard was a devoted and much loved grandfather to Kenda Martin, Nicholas Martin, Jarrette (Sarah Jane) Bannister, Justin (Lisa van de Brand) Bannister, Christy (Scott) Hoyt, Kelly Terris, Shauna Terris, and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Bridgette Hoyt. Hilyard is also survived by his sister, Helen (Robert) Chandler of Billerica, MA; sister-in-law, Myra Shaffer of Elgin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cecil and Millie Colpitts of Rothesay; as well as several cousins. He was a special uncle to his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Hilyard was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene (Dorothy) and Cecil; sister-in-law, Anne; two infant siblings; and by his birth daughter, Holliegene (Steeves) Terris in 2001. As a truck driver, Hilyard in his early years, worked for Sayre Lumber Co. and the Dept. of Public Works. He also worked at CN Intermodal, and retired after 32 years of service. He enjoyed horse hauls, attending county fairs, especially the Albert Fair, gardening, sugar-making season, and his Albert County home. Hilyard was a member of the First Elgin Baptist Church where he served for many years. Well loved by his community; family, friends, and neighbours were always welcomed in his home.
From the banks of her beloved Pollett River at the Jordan LifeCare Centre, The Glades, NB to the "Far Side Banks of Jordan", Kathleen Bannister, 96, formerly of Elgin, NB passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Born on May 12, 1925, on Gowland Mountain, NB, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Minnie (Marshall) Harrison.
Married for almost 64 years to the late Hilyard Bannister (2013), Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A homemaker, we remember Mom's delicious meals, especially the chocolate cakes made weekly for dad!
Kathleen was a faithful member of Elgin Baptist Church, a life member of the WMS, and a former member of the Elgin Women's Institute.
Kathleen is survived and missed by her daughter Myrna (Kenneth) Martin of Petitcodiac and her son Stephen (Debbie) Bannister of Elgin; grandchildren Kenda Martin, Nicholas (Melissa) Martin, Jarrette (Sarah Jane) Bannister, Justin (Lisa) Bannister, Christy (Scott) Hoyt, Kelly Terris, and Shauna Terris; great-granddaughters, Charlotte, Olivia, and Bridgette; sisters-in-law Marion Harrison and Helen (late Robert) Chandler; a special cousin, Alma Steeves, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The last surviving member of her family, Kathleen was predeceased by brothers Alfred (Margaret), and Edwin (Edna); sisters Ella (Russell) Nowlan, Mildred (Cecil) Colpitts, Amy (Austin) Colpitts, and Myra (Clarence) Shaffer; step-father George Babcock, and infant half-sister Edith.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held. Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800). Interment at the Elgin Cemetery.

BANNISTER, MYRTLE - Myrtle Marylin Bannister passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 30, 2013. Born in Codys, September 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lulu Gamblin, and the wife of the late Rev. Elwood "Al" Bannister. She met Al while at college in Massachusetts. Returning to Canada after their studies, they raised five children: Marilyn (Emery) Rogers, Paul, Tim (Diane), Philip (Jackie), and Peggy (Peter) O'Blenis. Myrtle lived her life as a passionate servant of Jesus Christ. She was a contributing alumna of Mount Allison University and Gordon College. With a lifelong commitment to service and hospitality, she fed virtually everyone in the various communities where she lived, and everyone was welcome in her home. She was a Life Member of the Codys’ Women's Institute, and the Women's Missionary Society of her church. In addition to faithfully serving with her husband in several pastorates in NB, she and Elwood taught in Kenya with Canadian Baptist Ministries for four years, fulfilling a lifelong dream. She is survived by her children, nine much-loved grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, Lulu Guravich, and her brother-in-law Delbert (Alice) Bannister, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, parents, brothers: Bill and Harold, an infant son, John, and daughter-in-law, Jackie.

It is with saddened hearts the family of Cora Annie (nee Bannister) (MacKinnon) Killam of Kenneth E. Spencer Home and formerly of Wheaton Settlement and Lewis Mountain, announces her passing on September 7, 2015 at the age of 94. Born in River Glade, she was a daughter to the late Fletcher and Clara (nee Prosser) Bannister and loving wife to her late first husband, Medley MacKinnon, and to her late second husband, Alfred Killam.
Cora is survived by her daughters: Judy Wilson (Layton) of Wheaton Settlement, Carol MacKinnon (Ian) of Calgary and Shirley Wilson (Neil) of Wheaton Settlement; her step-daughter Linda Quillan (Len); her step-sons: Burt Killam (Elaine), and Merle Killam (Bonnie); five grandchildren: Darryl, Allison, Paul, Coralee and Christopher; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Abigail, Kaylan, Leah, Hannah, Liam and Elijah; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her sister Sybil Dobransky of Ohio, USA; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents and husbands, Cora was predeceased by her sister Lillian Steeves, and her brother Clarence Bannister.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac (506-756-3361). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Hagerman presiding, all in the First North River Baptist Church. Interment will take place in the Wheaton Settlement Cemetery.

It is with saddened hearts the family of Clinton “Ken” Guy Steeves; announce his passing at the Moncton City Hospital on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the age of 93. Born in Meadow, NB on June 28, 1922, Clinton was a son of the late Trunhum and Janie (nee Bannister) Steeves.
Ken worked as a farmer and a sugar maker and later retired from the D.O.T. Bridge Department. He and Emily spent 24 years in Pleasant Vale on the farm before moving to Petitcodiac in 1970. Ken was also a member of the Third Elgin Baptist Church. He loved maple products, especially eating them, as well as being in the woods, driving his 4 wheeler, plowing snow with his tractor, his screen house, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with Emily. He loved visits from family and friends and telling old stories. The great-great grandchildren loved coming to visit so they could share Grampy’s cheezies.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Emily (nee Batemen) Steeves; his daughters: Phyllis Plume and Shirley Douthwright (Arnold); his grandchildren: Margie Yeomans, Bruce Yeomans, Patsy Walker, Rodney Yeomans (Marlene)and Tom Yeomans (Tammy); 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; his sister Alberta Marr; as well as many extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by his grandson Darcy Douthwright; his sisters: Mona Steeves, Ruby Lewis and Elizabeth Henry; and by his brothers: Clarence, Roy and Everett Steeves.

LEWIS, RUBY PEARL - Ruby Pearl Lewis, 88, of Forest Hill, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital with her husband by her side. Born in Meadow, she was a daughter of the late Trunhum and Janie (Bannister) Steeves. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of the First Elgin Baptist Church. She was also a former member of the Elgin Women's Institute., an avid bingo player and enjoyed a friendly game of cards. Ruby is survived and missed by her husband of 36 years Darrell; children Barbara L. Febel (Peter) of Birks Falls, ON, Maxine P. Zazinsky (Borden) of Mississauga, ON, Carol A. Snow (Derek) of Oakville, ON, and Eugene Charlton (Lana) of Elgin; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister Alberta Marr (Hilyard) of Lutes Mtn; brothers Everett Steeves (Anna) of Meadow and Clinton Steeves (Emily) of Petitcodiac; brother-in-law Bill Henry of Monteagle and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Wayne Charlton; grandsons Bradley and Steven Charlton; sisters Mona Steeves and Elizabeth Henry and brothers Clarence and Roy Steeves.
