354. Lena STEEVES

Lena Prosser
1923 - 2011 - Lena P. Prosser, 87, of Riverview, with members of her family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday morning, February 23, 2011. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora (Douthwright) Steeves. Lena was a regular attendee of the Salisbury Merrymakers, an avid card player (cribbage and bridge), enjoyed her extended family at Buckingham Place, but first and foremost was spending quality time with her family. Lena will be sadly missed by her loving family, son Roger, Moncton; daughters Linda Duguay (Gary), Sudbury, ON, Carol Locke (Rev. Philip), New Minas, NS, Kathy LeBlanc (Raymond), Moncton, Faye Eldridge, New Minas, NS, Lois Cormier (Gerald), Fredericton; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leon; daughter Sheila and son Leslie. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday February 26, 2011, 11:00 am, Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. 366. Lavilla Maude BANNISTER

COLPITTS, LOUIS “LOU” WALTON - Louis “Lou” Walton Colpitts, 88, of Moncton, and formerly of Salisbury, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on November 17, 2011. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Edward Walton and Clara Pearl (nee Rogers) Colpitts. Lou worked in the Signal Corps in the Canadian Army, and as a Radio Technician with the Ministry of Transportation. He was a veteran of WWII, serving overseas with the First Division in Italy, France, Germany, and England. He was a member of the Salisbury United Church, the Lay Ministers Fellowship, the Rail City Chorus, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 31. Lou is survived by his wife, L. Maude (nee Bannister) Fawcett-Colpitts; his daughter, Esther Colpitts of Shawville, Quebec; his son, Roger (June) of Winnipeg; his brothers: Gordon “Doc”(Evelyn) of Salisbury, and Eugene “Jamie” (Edris) of Moncton; his grandchildren: Terry Moquin, Richard (Joy) Moquin, Barry (Elona) Colpitts, Troy Colpitts, and Shawn Colpitts; several great-grandchildren; step-sons: Mel Fawcett of Saint John, David Fawcett (Sharon Beers) of The Glades, and Bart Fawcett (Joy) of Second North River; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Lou was predeceased by his first wife, Marie Jeanne Vienneau; his sons, James and Mark; grandson, Glen Moquin; sisters: Eva Pollock, Iva Reid, Dora Thorne, and Greta Hope; and brother, William “Bill” Colpitts. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 31 will be holding a tribute service on Sunday at 6:45 pm; the funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dan Compton presiding, all in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac. Donations to the Salisbury United Church or the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated by the family. 377. Eric George WEIR

WEIR, ERIC GEORGE - 1932-2011 - Eric George Weir, 79, of Riverview, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late John and Harriett (Smith) Weir. Eric attended the Nixon Baptist Church, a retired self employed woodsman and dump truck driver, who truly loved spending time working on his farm and with his horses. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Weir (Burrell), daughter; Ann Steeves (Peter) of Turtle Creek, son; Mitch (Cathy) of Colpitts Settlement; sisters; Audrey Steeves of Salisbury, Eleanor MacDonald and Esther Douthwright both of Turtle Creek, Eva Bannister of River Glade, brothers; Jack (Ruth) and Bennie (Vivian) both of Turtle Creek, his grandchildren; Tony, Corey, Kyle and Joselyn, great-grandchildren; Lyam and Ophelia as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Rick, sisters; Charlotte and Hilda, brothers; Ray, Guy, Clarence, and Howard. The funeral service will be held from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007), on Tuesday August 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Paul Leger officiating, the family receiving visitors from 1:00 PM, until the time of the service. Donations to the Kidney Foundation of NB or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. 379. John (Jack ) WEIR

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Weir from Turtle Creek. John passed away Friday, May 30th 2025 at the Moncton Hospital. John is the son of the late John & Hattie (Smith) Weir.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Heather (Kevin); his sons: Victor (Maria) and Philip (Sue) as well as his brother in law, Charles Wilson who was like a son; his grandchildren: Matthew, Ashley, Paul, Vicky, Olivia, William and Cody; his great grandchildren: Jimmy, Miranda, Audrina, Jaden, Chloe and newest grand baby, Jack born May 21st; John is also survived by several nieces and nephews with special thanks to his niece, Faye (Terry) Henry for lovingly helping with the arrangements. Faye and Nadine’s father was Clarence (Betty) Weir, brother to John.

Besides his parents, John is predeceased by his brothers, Clarence, Ray, Guy, Howard, Eric, Benny and his sisters: Eleanor, Charlotte, Audrey, Eva and Hilda.

Dad loved doing so many things, especially lately he loved watching Wednesday night prayer meeting on country’s family reunion. Dad was a hard worker, he was district manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken and manager for Deluxe French Fries. He also worked for CN, logged with horses when he was younger and many other jobs. Most of all, John was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His guidance will be sadly and lovingly missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury Funeral Home from where a Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Sunday, June 1st at 2:00pm. Interment will take place following the service at the Hillside Cemetery.

380. Benjamin WEIR

Bennie K Weir, 80, of Turtle Creek, NB; passed away after a courageous and lengthy illness at The Moncton Hospital, on Saturday, December 31, 2016.

Born in Middlesex, he was the son of the late John and Hattie Weir. Bennie was a farmer, lumberman and construction worker. He loved his horses and dogs and liked watching western movies. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Vivian (Fearon); daughters Cheryl Pooley (Robin), Linda Bishop (Gary), Kelly and Sheila (Perry); sons Brian (Debra), Lindsay (Betty) and Kevin (Cathy); sister Elenor MacDonald (the late Ralph); brother Jack (Ruth); nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; as well several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by son Danny, sisters Hilda, Charlotte, Eva and Audrey; brothers Clarence, Guy, Ray, Howard and Eric.

Resting at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 1:15pm to 2:00pm.

The Funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rodney Blyth officiating.

Interment will be in Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview, NB

381. Audrey WEIR

STEEVES, AUDREY - Audrey Nina Steeves, 73, of Jordan Life Care Centre and formerly of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late John and Harriett (Smith) Weir. Audrey was a homemaker, a member of the Middlesex Baptist Church and in her early working years did janitorial work at department stores in Moncton. She enjoyed music, especially at church, and spending time with her family. She is survived and missed by her son Norman J. Mitton (Angie) of Prosser Brook; grandchildren Tanya Mitton (Aaron) and Danny Mitton (Kelly); great grandchildren Jessica, Courtney, Bradley and Jaxon; brothers John Weir and Benjamin Weir (Vivian) both of Turtle Creek; sister Eleanor MacDonald of Turtle Creek; special niece Esther Douthwright and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by first husband Norman L. Mitton; second husband Carl Steeves; granddaughter Tammy L. Mitton; sisters Hilda Morrissey, Charlotte Martin and Eva Bannister and brothers Guy, Clarence, Raymond, Howard and Eric Weir.

382. Esther Evelyn WEIR

IT HAS BEEN KNOWN BY MANY THAT ESTER WAS A CHILD BORN FROM INCEST BETWEEN CHARLOTTE AND HER FATHER, JOHN WEIR. Ester Douthwright of Turtle Creek passed away at home on December 21, 2018 at the age of 73. Born in Petitcodiac, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte Martin.

She was a member of the Dawson Settlement Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and volunteering at the Lakeview Manor.

She will be deeply missed by her son, Allan (Lee) of Riverview; sisters, Eleanor MacDonald of Turtle Creek, Carol (Rick) Eagle; brothers, Jack Weir of Turtle Creek and Dale. Besides her parents, Ester was predeceased by her husband, Allan, in 1990, brothers, Eric, Ray, Guy, Clarence, Howard, Gerald and Benny, and sisters Hilda, Charlotte and Audrey.

A funeral service will be held for from Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 220 Whitepine Rd. Riverview, 869-2007 on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 1:00pm with Rev. David Ross officiating. Visitation will take place before the service from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The interment will follow the service at Fair Haven Cemetery. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated by the family.


388. Linda A. BANNISTER

Funeral Service for Linda A. Bannister,36, of Petitcodiac, NB, whose death occured Sunday, Sept 9,1979 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredereicton, will be held Tuesday, Sept 11 at 4pm from Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac. Interment will in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of Flowers, donations to a memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Born in Pollett River, she was a daughter of Thomas and Olive (Berry) Bannister. She had been employed as a clerk typist. She had been employed as a clerk-typist with the Bank of Nova Scotia, Petitcodiac. She was a member of the Forest Glen Baptist Church. She is survived by her parents three sisters, Mrs. Ivan Wade (Jennie), Petitcodiac; Mrs Wayne Bustin (Thelma), River Glade: Mrs, Garnet Davis (Laura), Truro, NS; two brothers, Eddie, Moncton: Roy, Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at Armstrong's Funeral home Petitcodiac from where the services will be held Tuesday at 4pm. Burial will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.


389. Eddie BANNISTER

Eddie T. Bannister, 83, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the L. J. Jaillet Residence, in Moncton, on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 with family by his side. Born in Pollett River, NB he was the son of the late Thomas and Olive (Berry) Bannister.

Eddie was a retired auto mechanic, working many years for Moncton Chrysler, and later, for CRC RV’s. Eddie was very involved in his community, volunteering with Lions Sick Children’s Fund Inc. and the Canadian Cancer Society. He was an active member of Foresters, Lions Club, and most especially, the Hillside Baptist Church. Eddie cherished the time he had with his wife. He was so happy to be able to live with her again at the L. J. Jaillet Residence for the last 6 months before her recent passing in July, 2020.

Survived and sadly missed by his sister, Thelma (the late Wayne) Bustin; brother-in-law, Garnet Davis; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, including special nephew and godson, Aaron (Tracey) Smith.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Freda; siblings, Roy (Ethel) Bannister, Laura Davis, Jenny (Ivan) Wade, and Linda Bannister.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation for Jackie and her staff at the L. J. Jaillet Residence for the dignified care Eddie and Freda received. Jackie always went above and beyond and Eddie absolutely adored her.

Resting at The Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) from where visiting will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 4 – 6 pm and from where funeral service will be on Thursday, August 27 at 1 pm with Rev. Jerry Reddy officiating. Due to Covid-19, social distancing will be respected, masks are encouraged, and capacity may be limited. Interment will be in The Glades Cemetery, The Glades, NB.
